133 Club
Manteca, CA
Presents
1st Annual Labor Day Shuffleboard Tournment
George Camara put together the 1st shuffleboard tournament at the newly remodeled 133 Club in Manteca, CA. Hoping to get aquainted with the boards, my partner (Chris W) and I (Eddie B) arrive a day early. When got there, the boards were still unpacked and on AZ's truck, the room had almost no lighting, and the bar was packed with plumbers, carpenters and painters. Shit, even the urinals weren't yet functional.
Well, thanks to the efforts of a great bunch of workers, from John, the owner of the 133 Club, to the painters, carpenters, George Camara, AZ, Larry Newell, Chris Wayt, Joe Hudson, me, and some others I don't recall at the moment, the totally unprepared 133 Club was transformed (overnight) into a shuffleboard paradise. The tournament went off without a hitch. There were 3 events; ABC, Doubles, and Singles.
John the Owner (I forgot his last name) took care of the crowd like an Italian grandmother. Food was plentiful and delicious, and, for fear of the Manteca Police Department seeing this website, I won't go into what went on in the bar from 2-5am.
There are already discussions about future tournaments at the 133 Club. For the northern California shufflers, Manteca is an ideal location. Players from the Rat Pack of Sacramento, to the Oddballs of Santa Clara are within easy reach.
Stay tuned for further developments. In the mean time, check out some photos...

This was the room that
Chris and I shared at the
Manteca Inn. We used the bed on
the left for the luggage.
This was the "kitchen".
The first night we stocked our fridge with chips, candy, soda, and other
assorted crap we bought at 7-11.
